Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Compression, resizing, and zipping all happen in your browser — the files never touch a server, and the tool works offline.
What format should product images be?
For website images, WebP is usually the smallest at comparable quality. Marketplaces such as Alibaba.com and Amazon typically require JPG — use the Marketplaces preset.
Will small images be upscaled?
No. When the long-side limit exceeds the original, the image keeps its size and is only recompressed. Marketplaces generally require at least 1000px, so replace very small source files instead.
Why does a speed test keep telling me to compress images?
Inefficiently encoded and oversized images are among the most common Lighthouse performance findings. Compressing them cuts transfer size directly — then re-run the Lighthouse test to confirm the improvement.
